Black History Books

The purpose of the African Canadian Scholar’s Reading List is to infuse society with knowledge about the contributions of the Black community. Throughout the year and on special occasions we will feature literary resources that lead you to stories of Black experiences, Black lives, and issues of relevance to the African Diaspora.

The list can be utilized by teachers, librarians, parents, families and community groups for teaching, learning, celebrating, and recognizing Black history and Black lives. The list is compiled with input from scholars and members of the community throughout Canada and the world.

And if the word integration means anything, this is what it means: that we, with love, shall force our brothers to see themselves as they are, to cease fleeing from reality and begin to change it. For this is your home, my friend, do not be driven from it; great men have done great things here, and will again, and we can make America what America must become.
